Landric Read and Share

Landric’s Read & Share is a youth-led literacy initiative inspired by Landric, who at just seven years old used a $100 gift to launch a program rooted in service, representation, and community impact. The initiative promotes reading and generosity through shared storytelling experiences for children and elders. Landric’s work has been featured on local news outlets, highlighting the power of youth leadership and the importance of culturally affirming literacy.

Program Highlights

Landric’s Read & Share began in 2018 when seven-year-old Landric chose to use a $100 gift from his great-grandmother to start a literacy initiative centered on service, generosity, and representation. His goal was simple yet powerful: read books to preschoolers and elders, then gift each participant a book of their own. By age eight, Landric received a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service grant, officially launching what is now a CommunityEFX-supported program.

Since its inception, Landric’s Read & Share has impacted more than 500 youth, with Landric reading multiple books written by African American authors and featuring African American characters. These stories allow children to see themselves reflected in literature while fostering a love for reading. Landric’s leadership and community impact have been featured on local news stations, and he has conducted both in-person and virtual reading events in partnership with schools and organizations.

Program Highlights Include:

  • Youth-led literacy and service initiative
  • Reading sessions for children and elders
  • Book distribution to every participant
  • Culturally affirming stories and authors
  • Virtual and in-person community engagement
  • Featured coverage on local news outlets
